Hotel Staffler – comfortable Austrian chalet hotel

Social guided ski holiday in Austria

This 7-night group ski trip is perfect for solo skiers and boarders in search of a relaxed and friendly trip in the stunning  Salzburg area. You will stay in  a traditional Austrian chalet hotel where you can take advantage of a relaxed social scene whilst being just 150 metres from the ski lift. You’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded solo and single skiers on this  trip whilst having plenty of time on the slopes with complimentary guiding.

Accommodation for skier and snowboarders

The Staffler Hotel is a traditional Austrian chalet hotel, which sits in the heart of Niederau close to ski schools, hire shops, the main lifts and nursery slopes – everything is at your fingertips!

The Staffler is the resorts oldest, most well known hotel and offers guests a relaxed and informal atmosphere. En-suite bedrooms are simply furnished and enjoy stung mountain views.

On the ground floor is a comfortable reception area, the bar – always popular and busy, a fantastic sunny terrace and a bright and airy dining room. Streamed sport is available in O’Malley’s and complimentary high speed WiFi is available throughout the hotel. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel with lots of amenities then the Staffler is possibly not for you but if your accommodation choice is about a simple approach, an outstanding service, complimentary Ski Guiding, a great bar and nightclub and lots more besides, then the Staffler will satisfy – and how!

The three alpine villages of Niederau, Oberau and Auffach nestle in one of Austria’s most beautiful valleys known as the Wildschonau. Niederau is a friendly, safe and generally snow-sure resort. There are a number of hotels and guest houses scattered around a small village centre which also has a ski shop, a number of ski hire outlets, bars, restaurants and a bank.

Apres Ski and night time bars are all pretty relaxed and informal. There are a scattering of bars close to the slopes. There’s also the ever so busy bar and terrace at O’Malley’s. The Cave underneath the hotel is a Niederau institution – and has been for over 50 years. Something going on every night and live music as well.

The resorts main ski lifts and nursery slopes are less than 150 meters from the hotel and apart from crossing the main road, our guests can ski back to the door for most of the season. The resort villages of Oberau and Auffach are easily accessible by complimentary ski bus. A new fast access Gondola will transform uplift in Auffach from the start of this season.

The Wildschonau is just 20 minutes from the town of Worgl. With its mainline station and direct access to the motorways, there are simple and fast connections to Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich.

The Skiing

The Austrian Tirol is one of the worlds greatest ski paradises. The restaurants and bars as much a part of the experience as the slopes and scenery – and that’s saying something considering there are nearly 4000kms of piste, 1700 lifts and some of the most famous resorts in the world.

The Kitzbuhler Alps combine seven of the best ski areas in the Tirol offering guests guaranteed snow, state of the art cable cars and lifts, more than 1000kms of piste and a myriad of mountain bars and restaurants. The Wildschonau, comprises Niederau, Oberau and Auffach and now including Alpbach

Almost every day we offer a unique and complimentary ski guiding service – not normally on the slopes above Niederau (on doorstep) , only occasionally to Auffach and Alpbach (approx 5 minutes drive) , definitely to all parts of the SkiWelt (approx 10 minutes drive) , and a bit further to Kitzbuhel , Jochberg, Pass Thurn,Steinplatter , the Ski Circus with access via Fieberbrunn .

Guiding never replaces ski school – it’s not instruction and never will be. Guiding with the Staffler is an opportunity to explore familiar or new piste, resorts, bars and restaurants with Staffler staff who know and absolutely love the mountains. Its about not having to refer to a piste map, suitability of slopes and lifts but more about being able to concentrate on your skiing, putting kilometers under your feet, in good company and with a common purpose.

Guiding is offered to reasonably competent skiers and better boarders – an ability to negotiate red runs with ease and fairly quickly in parallel sets the standard. We usually guide in groups of no more than eight or ten. More up for guiding, more guides!

It’s a complimentary service, undertaken at your own risk, all we ask in return is that you chip in collectively for your guides lunch and drinks throughout the day and embrace the experience. (Unusually we may need to hire additional taxis which might involve a small cost of up to 5 euros)
A Staffler Ski Guide does an average of over 3000kms in a season and loves every minute of it!

You can choose your own flight from your local airport to Innsbruck, Munich or Salzburg arriving on  Sunday or Monday for 7  nights. Please ask me which flights others have chosen to make transfers more cost effective

The hotel will be able to organise transfers from all 3 airports or explain train connections. Typically transfers cost between 75 & 90 euros return as long as they are shared by a minimum of 4 people. There are also trains from all 3 airports to Worgl station and the taxi from there is approx. 20-25 euros .
